Launch Price $99 - The Witness Compact Chair is a lightweight compact camping chair designed especially for sports parents and features

A simple 6-click setup, so you can be seated in around 10 seconds.

There are no loose poles and no separate seat material to assemble.

Unfold the frame, extend the legs, click each section securely into place and your chair is ready.

Weighing just 1.7kg and folding down to 39 × 13 × 13cm, it is easy to carry alongside sports bags, umbrellas and everything else that comes with weekend sport. Whether you are at football, soccer, netball, rugby, AFL, hockey, cricket, athletics or a swim carnival, it is the chair you will actually leave in the car.

Note

Your Witness Compact may feel firm when first opened as the fabric is new and tightly fitted. With use, the fabric will naturally settle and relax slightly, making the chair easier to open and close. As the fabric settles, you may notice a small amount of additional movement through the seat and arm areas. This is expected and does not affect normal use of the chair.

If you notice excessive movement, damage, or anything that doesn't seem right, stop using the chair and contact us. We're happy to check it for you.

What to Take to Kids’ Soccer: Australian Parent Checklist

Saturday morning soccer sounds simple.

Get the kids dressed, grab the boots and ball, jump in the car and head to the field.

Then you arrive and realise someone forgot their water bottle.

The grass is wet.

There's nowhere to sit.

The sun comes out.

Twenty minutes later it starts raining.

And the closest car park seems to be three football fields away.

Anyone who has spent a season watching junior soccer knows that what you take to the game can make a big difference.

Whether you're heading to a regular Saturday match, training session or an all-day tournament, a simple kids’ soccer checklist can make getting out the door much easier.

Here's what Australian soccer parents should consider packing.

1. Soccer Boots

Start with the item that can ruin the morning if you forget it.

The boots.

If your child changes between school shoes, runners and soccer boots, create a simple routine where the boots go straight back into the soccer bag after they're cleaned and dry.

Check them occasionally as well.

Kids have an impressive ability to grow out of shoes between one weekend and the next.

2. Shin Guards

The other essential.

Keep the shin guards with the boots or inside the soccer bag rather than storing them somewhere else in the house.

The fewer individual things you need to remember on Saturday morning, the better.

3. Soccer Socks and Uniform

Where possible, organise the complete uniform the night before.

That includes:

  • jersey

  • shorts

  • soccer socks

  • shin guards

  • boots

For tournaments or particularly muddy days, spare socks can also be useful.

4. Water Bottle

Take plenty of water.

Even during cooler months, children can work hard during a soccer match.

For tournaments involving several games, one small water bottle may not be enough.

Bring additional water or somewhere you can refill bottles throughout the day.

And don't forget water for yourself.

Parents can spend several hours outside while concentrating so much on what their child needs that they forget their own basics.

5. A Sports Parent Chair

Now we get to the parent equipment.

Some soccer grounds have seating.

Many don't.

Even when benches are available, they're often being used by players and coaches.

That means parents usually need to bring their own chair.

But don't think only about how comfortable the chair looks when it's open.

Think about how you're going to get it to the field.

You may already be carrying:

  • sports bag

  • water

  • snacks

  • umbrella

  • jackets

  • younger siblings' equipment

And the car could be several hundred metres away.

That's why a lightweight portable foldable chair can make a lot of sense for soccer parents.

The Witness Compact Chair is designed around small packed dimensions and low carrying weight.

6. Why a Compact Chair Works Well for Soccer

Soccer isn't always a sit-in-one-place sport for parents.

You might watch one child on Field 2 and then walk across the complex to another game.

Tournament days can involve several field changes.

You may also need to move when teams change ends, depending on the venue and competition.

A large traditional camping chair can do the job.

But a portable compact chair can make those movements easier.

The Witness Compact weighs approximately 1.7 kg and packs down to approximately 39 × 13 × 13 cm.

That makes it easier to carry alongside other soccer equipment and easier to fit into an already crowded vehicle.

See the Witness lightweight portable soccer chair.

7. What If You Want More Comfort?

Not every soccer parent wants the smallest and lightest chair possible.

If you generally arrive, set up beside one field and stay there for several hours, comfort may matter more than absolute minimum weight.

A swivel camping chair can also be particularly useful at sport.

You're rarely looking in exactly one direction.

One minute you're watching the game.

The next you're talking to another parent beside you.

Then you're turning back towards the field.

A 360 rotating camping chair lets you change direction without repeatedly lifting and repositioning the whole chair.

The Witness Comfort 360 is the higher-back option for parents who want additional support and 360-degree rotation.

8. Compact Chair or Swivel Chair for Soccer?

This comes down to how you spend your soccer weekends.

Choose a Lightweight Compact Chair If:

  • you walk a long way from the car

  • you regularly move between fields

  • you carry lots of other equipment

  • boot space is limited

  • low weight is important

  • you want something easy to leave in the car

Choose a Compact Swivel Camping Chair If:

  • you normally stay beside one field

  • you spend longer periods sitting

  • you prefer a higher back

  • additional comfort matters

  • you like being able to rotate towards the action

The Comfort 360 weighs approximately 2.7 kg, so it remains relatively lightweight while providing a different seating experience from the smaller Compact.

9. Sunscreen

Soccer season doesn't eliminate the Australian sun.

Even on cooler days, you're still spending significant time outside.

Keep sunscreen permanently in the soccer-parent bag rather than relying on remembering it each week.

Apply it before leaving home and take it with you for reapplication when needed.

10. Hat

Players may have different uniform requirements, but parents should bring their own sun protection.

A hat is particularly important at open soccer grounds where there may be very little natural shade.

Consider keeping a dedicated sports hat in the car.

11. Umbrella

An umbrella can perform two jobs at soccer.

Rain protection.

And shade.

A compact umbrella is particularly useful because it doesn't add much bulk to everything else you're carrying.

Check the weather before leaving home, but don't assume a clear forecast guarantees a dry morning.

Soccer parents eventually learn that lesson.

12. Rain Jacket

An umbrella isn't always practical when you're trying to carry equipment.

A lightweight waterproof jacket can be easier.

Keep one in the car throughout soccer season.

Even if you only use it occasionally, you'll be very glad it's there when the weather changes halfway through a game.

13. Warm Layers

Early-morning winter soccer can be freezing for spectators.

The children are running around.

You're sitting still.

There's a big difference.

Dress in layers so you can adjust as the morning warms up.

A jumper, jacket or lightweight blanket can make those early games much more comfortable.

14. Snacks

A regular match may not require much food.

Tournament days are different.

Pack easy foods that can be eaten between games.

Depending on your family's needs, that might include:

  • fruit

  • sandwiches

  • wraps

  • yoghurt

  • crackers

  • simple snack bars

Bring food for the parents and siblings too.

15. Towel

Keep an old towel in the car.

Wet grass.

Muddy boots.

Rain.

Spilled drinks.

Wet chairs.

Eventually the towel will earn its place.

For particularly wet matches, a second towel or small waterproof bag for muddy gear can also be useful.

16. Change of Clothes

For young players especially, a change of clothes can be valuable after a wet or muddy game.

Nobody wants a child covered in mud sitting in the car for the drive home.

Consider packing:

  • shirt

  • shorts or pants

  • socks

  • shoes

A simple plastic or reusable waterproof bag can hold the dirty uniform afterwards.

17. Something for Younger Siblings

A soccer match can feel very long when you're six years old and your brother or sister is playing.

Bring something simple to keep younger siblings occupied.

That might be:

  • book

  • colouring

  • small toy

  • ball

  • cards

  • headphones

  • tablet for longer tournament days

You don't need an enormous entertainment bag.

Just something to help during the waiting periods.

18. Portable Phone Charger

Phones do a lot of work at junior sport.

You might use yours for:

  • directions

  • team messages

  • competition apps

  • photos

  • video

  • weather

  • communicating with other parents

Tournament days can drain a battery quickly.

A small power bank is easy to leave in the soccer-parent bag.

19. Basic First-Aid Items

Your club should have appropriate first-aid arrangements for players.

But keeping a few basic personal supplies in your family bag can still be useful for minor everyday problems.

You don't need to carry an entire medical kit.

The idea is simply to have the small things your own family regularly uses.

20. Rubbish Bag

Take a small bag for rubbish.

It can also double as somewhere to put:

  • muddy clothes

  • wet towels

  • dirty boots

  • wet equipment

It's one of the smallest and most useful things you can add to the soccer kit.

Keep a Soccer Parent Kit Permanently Packed

The easiest way to organise Saturday sport is to stop packing everything from scratch.

Create a dedicated soccer-parent bag or tub.

Keep things like these permanently inside:

  • sunscreen

  • insect repellent

  • spare hat

  • umbrella

  • rain jacket

  • towel

  • rubbish bags

  • portable charger

  • basic personal supplies

Then each week you only need to add:

Food. Water. Uniform. Boots.

That eliminates a lot of Saturday-morning searching.

Keep Your Foldable Chair in the Car

Your chair can follow the same system.

If you use a compact portable foldable chair, it may be small enough to simply remain in the vehicle throughout the season.

Then there's nothing to remember.

Open the boot.

Grab the chair.

Walk to the field.

At approximately 39 × 13 × 13 cm packed, the Witness Compact is designed to occupy much less space than a long traditional folding camping chair.

Pack for the Whole Soccer Morning, Not Just the Match

A 60-minute soccer game doesn't mean you'll be away from home for 60 minutes.

There is travel.

Parking.

Warm-up.

The game.

Half-time.

Talking to coaches and other parents.

Packing everything away.

And possibly another child's game immediately afterwards.

Tournament days can stretch much longer.

Pack according to the total time you'll be away, not simply the length of the match.

Don't Take More Than You Can Carry

There's another side to being prepared.

You can take too much.

A giant chair.

Huge esky.

Large shelter.

Multiple bags.

Before long, getting from the car to the soccer field becomes harder than it needs to be.

Ask yourself:

What do we actually use every weekend?

Keep those essentials together and make them as portable as possible.

That includes your chair.

If low weight and minimum packed size matter most, a lightweight compact chair is probably the better fit.

If you want a higher back and the ability to rotate while watching the game, a high-back swivel camping chair may suit you better.

See the Witness high-back 360 rotating chair.

The Bottom Line

Kids' soccer is much easier when you're organised before you leave home.

Keep the player's equipment together.

Build a basic parent kit.

Leave regular essentials in the car where practical.

And don't forget to prepare for yourself as well as your child.

For the sideline, choose a chair based on the way you actually spend the day.

If you're walking between fields and carrying plenty of gear, a lightweight portable foldable chair can make life easier.

If you're sitting for longer periods and value additional support and movement, a compact swivel camping chair or 360 rotating chair may be the better option.

The goal isn't to take everything you own.

It's to take the right things and make the weekend as simple as possible.

Because Saturday morning soccer should be about watching the kids play — not making three trips back to the car.
